Kuwo or 酷我 is my favorite free music, song downloader software. I have been using it for quite a while and still love it. There are millions of songs in APE, MP3 or WMA format in Kuwo’s database and it’s being updated regularly. Most of the songs are Chinese songs but you can still find English songs, Korean or Japan songs as well.

How to Play APE Audio Files Using Windows Media Player

Normally, we see a lot of common audio files types such as MP3, WAV, RMA, MID and we can play these audio files easily with Winamp or Windows Media Player.

Today, when I was about to listen to a Christmas album, I noticed the audio file was in APE format. I tried to use Winamp or Windows Media Player to play but to no avail. I know we can find an APE player to play the songs but I just want to keep my desktop clean and not congested with too many software. I found a plug-in which enable Windows Media Player to play APE files.

What is APE file

APE file extension (.ape) is a Monkey Audio Lossless Audio File. The APE files belong to audio lossless format which means the qualities of the songs are kept well not like some other lossy audio formats such as MP3, MP4 and WMA.

How to play APE file with Windows Media Player

1) Now, we need to download an APE audio format plug-in called RadLight APE DirectShow Filter 1.0.0.4. Click here to download. The size of the file is small at around 109kb.

2) Extract the zip file and install the RadLightAPE program to your PC just like normal program.

3) Launch Windows Media Player and open the APE file. (You might need to restart PC if Windows Media player still not showing ape type)

4) Enjoy the APE songs now.

TTPlayer or 千千静听 or qianqianjingting is a powerful free audio player which able to play multi-format type of songs. I have been using TT Player, 千千静听 to listen to the MP3 on my laptop since a few years ago and today I would like to share this nice free audio player software to you.

Great Features Available In 千千静听, QianQianJingTing

The main reason I used 芊芊静听 is to utilize its best feature – lyric player. I can play the song and sing together with the singer. TTPlayer has own lyric server which automatically find the suitable lyric and display on the TT Player screen. Therefore, you no need to find the lyric over the internet song databases and 千千静听 will do the work for you within a few seconds.

Other than that, TTPlayer lyric also supports other languages songs such as English songs, Korean songs. Since TTPlayer is made in China, therefore there’s currently no other languages version except chinese version.

To ease those people who are not familiar with Chinese version Installation, I have created an easy How-Tos on installing 千千静听 and how to use it to listen the songs and find the song lyric.

How To Install TTPlayer and Find Songs Lyrics

1) Download the 千千静听, TTPlayer newest version – 5.6 from its official website. Click here to download.

2) Launch the Qian Qian Jing Ting, 千千静听 program, press 开始（S)Button to continue.

3) Press 我同意(A) button to agree on TT Player’s terms and conditions.

4) Installation preferences page, just maintain the default settings and press Next button to continue.

5) Select the directory to install TTPlayer program. Then press Next button to continue.

6) Extra features page, if you want the TTPlayer icon to be appeared on your desktop, tick the first box; if you want it to be at Start menu, tick the second box and for my example, I prefer it to appear in my QuickLaunch bar, therefore I ticked the third box. Press Next button once done.

7) Finish TTPlayer installation. Congratulations!

Launch the QianQianJingTing and you will see the QianQian music windows open on your right hand side.

9) You can type the singer’s name or the song’s name in the search bar as shown. Then if you want to listen to the song, just tick the box and press the small icon (earphone). After that, you will notice a pop-up which ask you to select the suitable lyric for the song. TTPlayer will automatically the suitable song lyric in case you cannot decide on it.

10) Right-click TT Player program will trigger its options menu and here you can configure the settings according to your liking.

I tried to open an English song and a Korean song and TTPlayer lyric server still can find the suitable song lyrics for them. Great stuff.

Conclusion:

I love to listen to music no matter it’s chinese songs or english songs, as long as the song suits my taste. However, I always find difficulty to find MP3 songs and it wastes my time to search from internet as well. However, I found this piece of free cool music player called “Kuwo Music Box” or “酷我”. “Kuwo” is a nice tool to find songs especially MP3 or WMA format songs. 酷我 contains hundred thousands songs in its database and with Kuwo Music Box, you always have new songs to hear or download. Yeah! You got me right, you can listen to the songs and also download the songs in MP3 or WMA format for FREE.

As far as I know, Kuwo contains most of the chinese songs and also some English songs. The main reason why Kuwo contains more chinese songs compare to english songs is because 酷我 is made in China.

How To Use Kuwo Music Box ?

1) Please wait for a second. I think the first thing to do is to download the Kuwo installer first. Get a copy of kuwo (酷我2010 installer from Kuwo official site – http://www.kuwo.cn or click here to download it.

2) Then install the Kuwo 2010 installer to your PC.

3) After installing the installer, tick to run Kuwo now as shown in the screen shot above. Click Finish button.

4) Now I believe you are opening the Kuwo player and ready to experience the features in it. Let us browse to the top third tab menu (网络曲库-means “Internet Song Database”. Type either the song’s title or singer’s name in the search box as shown in the screen shot above. Soon, the whole related search results will display and you can select the songs that you want to hear or download.

5) Just right-click the song that you decided to play and you will see the right-click menu pop-up. Choose the second option if you only want to play and hear the song, otherwise you can choose the fourth option to download the song. (refer to the screen shot above)

6) When you select to download the song, another download pop-up will appear to ask for your decision where to save the song and the format of song you want to save. There are MP3 format and WMA format for you to choose. You will notice that MP3 size is much bigger than WMA because MP3 format is high quality format. After that, press confirm button to download the song and the task is complete. Enjoy the songs.

Conclusion:
Although the songs quality are not the best but I still find it a good method to hear the new songs before purchasing the original CD songs. Please comment and suggest if there are other similar software out there like Kuwo.
