How to Restore Back Firefox Save and Quit Option in Firefox 4

I realize that the newer version of Firefox 4 does not include popular “Save and Quit” option like previous Firefox version 3.6 which was useful to me especially when I need to work on these tabs the next day. Normally, I will select “Save and Quit” option before closing my browser because I want Firefox browser to save and reopen all the previous tabs for the next time it starts. Below screenshot shows the Save and Quit message for Firefox version 3.6:

For your info, I had updated my Firefox browser 3.6 version to Firefox 4.0.1 not long ago and I found that my favorite Firefox option had disappeared. Instead of showing Save and Quit option, newer version of Firefox 4.0 shows the Close tabs and Cancel button when you are about to close the browser.

How to enable Firefox Save and Quit Option in Firefox 4

There’s a solution to enable back the Firefox Save and Quit button by opening Firefox configuration page. Follow the below steps to activate the option again:

Step 1: Type about:config in browser’s location bar

Step 2: Double click the browser.showQuitWarning to activate the setting. The default “false” value will become “true”

These 2 simple steps will restore back the Firefox quit warning message box again as long as you don’t update to a newer Firefox version again. Otherwise, you have to redo the settings again.

Google Chrome browser is enriched with tons of useful plugins that can be installed to ease our daily tasks. For example, I used to have sticky note software on my Windows 7 to write important notes. Furthermore, Note Anywhere will save the sticky notes created by you on web pages so when you open the web pages again, the previous notes will appear automatically.

How to use Notes Anywhere

Firstly, install Notes Anywhere extension from Chrome web store and open a new tab and load a website instead of using Chrome web store page because it has been restricted to use the plugin on Chrome store as shown in the below.

Now, you will notice a yellow icon on the right tool bar. Click on it will open a new sticky note on web page. You can drag and move the notes according to your preference.

If you want to customize the options, just right click the yellow icon and select “Options”. Click on Notes Summary will list out all the locations of Notes with website address. Select on “Settings” will let you to customize the colors, font type and text size of the Note Anywhere.

You will know how many notes opened by you on that particular page by looking at the yellow badge on right side toolbar.

Conclusion:

I love Note Anywhere Chrome extension which is free and useful especially taking important notes during browsing websites. The only small issue that I found is I cannot highlight the words because whenever I point the mouse over the text, the whole note box will move with the mouse together. Other than that, Note Anywhere is performing very well and highly recommended.

Hackers Use Windows XP F1 Key To Hack PC

How many times you have been press F1 key on your keyboard to find out the Help topics? Frankly speaking, Windows XP F1 key is very useful in providing assistance or help to solve minor PC problem.

What is the F1 key?
F1 is one of the 12 function keys (F1 – F12) on a regular keyboard, typically located in the top row of keys. Function keys allow users to reach certain functions in an application by pressing only a single key on the keyboard. In most applications, F1 would bring up the help function and many users are familiar with instructions such as “Press F1 for help“.

2. Switch to use Mozilla Firefox as primary browser. I have been using it for a long time and very satisfy with its performance and reliability. Highly recommended.

3. Protect your PC by changing IE intranet security zone settings to “High” in order to block ActiveX controls or Active Scripting in these zones.

To raise the browsing security level in Internet Explorer, follow these steps:

1. On the Internet Explorer Tools menu, click Internet Options.

2. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Security tab, and then click the Internet icon.

3. Under Security level for this zone, move the slider to High. This sets the security level for all web sites you visit to High.

Conclusion:

Be a smart computer user and don’t simply pressing the F1 key because if you do not press F1 Key, the risk of exploitation will be greatly reduced.
